COLUMBIA, Mo. – The University of Missouri Board of Curators unanimously approved the naming of Mizzou Football’s new indoor practice facility as the Stephens Indoor Facility during a meeting on Thursday afternoon.

The Stephens Indoor Facility, which will be located adjacent to the South End Zone Facility, is named for MU alumni and donors Brad and Rachel Stephens.

“Brad and Rachel are generous, loyal and passionate supporters of our University and it has been a privilege to get to know them both since I arrived in Columbia,” Director of Athletics Desiree Reed-Francois said. “The Stephens’ set a high bar in their commitment and support of Missouri Athletics and we are so grateful for their generosity. I want to thank all of those who helped make this commitment a reality. This facility will be world-class and will have an immediate impact on the student-athlete experience and on propelling us towards our championship expectations.”

Brad Stephens earned a bachelor of science in business administration with an emphasis in finance and banking in 1997 while Rachel is a 1998 graduate of the School of Journalism and a past member of the Jefferson Club Board of Trustees.

"Mizzou has been an important part of our lives, and we are excited to be able to partner with Coach Drinkwitz and the Department of Athletics on their vision for the football program," Brad Stephens said. "I have always thought athletics was an integral part of the University experience and this project continues the work which was started with the beautiful South End Zone Facility."

The Stephens Indoor Facility includes a full-length football field with appropriate run-off distances beyond the end zones and along the sidelines for student-athlete safety. The facility will feature an upper mezzanine level with a viewing lobby and gameday facilities including expanded restrooms and VIP premium indoor tailgating opportunities.

St. Louis-based architect HOK and its Kansas City, Mo.-based sports division, HOK-Sport, are leading the planning and design of the Stephens Indoor Facility. The project received unanimous approval from the Board of Curators in May 2021 and is expected to open in Summer 2023.
