David Brooks writes some crusty stuff but this one was interesting to me. In a nutshell, he laments the disappearance of the large, extended family and it's replacement by less connected, smaller families as the American ideal. He references Barry Levinson's Avalon. Its an interesting article on what rural America had and new immigrants often have, a familial support structure.
