I am quoting Gabe with the thread title. But this was my point coming into the game. We knew Lock could throw for a gazillion yards against a crappy team. We knew we weren't going to have any problem moving the ball UNLESS of course we were playing a real defense OR we needed to in a close game.
I know the offense did not cost us the game BUT I also know it certainly did not win it. But what did we learn that we didn't already know? Well we know the coaches have put all their eggs in the Drew Lock basket no matter what. So when they stand around looking angry and pathetic when he coughs it up three times next week, playing loosey goosey with the ball or cannot move the chains, whose fault is that?
I don't know that Marvin Zanders is the answer. And QB play did not COST US the game yesterday but again it certainly DID NOT win it. I did not see Captain Clutch lead us down the field in the 4th quarter with the game on the line. I did see him miss on 6 straight pass plays including a one hopper on 4th and 5? That should not happen.
Drew should light up Kentucky. They are a pathetic defense. But if he does not, and he turns it over three times in vintage Lock's loosey goosey style and cannot pick up first downs that has become his MO in SEC games, then I don't want to see our coaches moping around, acting surprised and frustrated. This is a product of what they built. To not give Zanders a shot vs MTSU, to not see what he is capable of is criminal and its the product of a coaching staff that has a losers mentality.
I do not see a coaching staff with any urgency. I don't see a coaching staff that is laying it on the line. I don't see a coaching staff coaching like their hair is on fire. I see a coaching staff that is okay with losing. That takes the mentality that the result is par for the course. But losing to MTSU is not par for the course. Getting your doors blown off is not par the course. This is a staff that would rather lose by being stubborn and blaming their current rosters inefficiencies then make the necessary changes to give this team the best chance to win.
