NIL starts about at 5 minute mark.
A few points he made about the current situation:
- Go tell all the NFL players they are now all free agents and can be at any point in the year...and they keep their money.
- Tell them...there is no salary cap either.
Now watch their faces.
Basically you would have 2 types of college recruits/players:
- Amateur student athlete (the majority). Get their education paid for, the stipends...etc. Once you graduate at same school, you get "X" dollars. Go into the portal and/or not graduate...no $.
- Declare you will be Pro before a deadline. There is a draft (no-say where the "pro" goes to school) for these "pros" and they can be traded and cut. Yes, you can have your money without any cap. Even Little League has a draft.
Portal guys declare and choose school (with school's agreement) within a week, not any date like now. Interesting concepts worth discussing. Have a listen.
