This was done by using the 60 year,40 year,20 year,15,10, and 5 year win percentages and the national rank by win percentage in each era. Then I averaged the rank. Since there are 6 eras and the last 20 years has 2/3 of the data winning lately has more weight. I would argue that this is the right way to do it as winning the last 20 years should hold more value than wins in the 60s or 70s,
1. Alabama average rank-4.8
2. Ga-9.8
3. LSU-12
4. Auburn-19.3
5. Fl- 21.2
6. Texas A&M 33.8
7. Tenn 40.33
8. MIZ-43.2
9. Arky 45.7
10. South Carolina 49.33
11. Ole Miss 51.8
12. Miss State 61.83
13. Kentucky 92
14. Vandy 102
To me Auburn was better than my expectations of how the numbers would play out and Tenn was worse. Also I thought Ole Miss and Missouri would have a closer average.
And Arky fans are living in the past of 20-60 years ago and not in the now. They ranked #21 and #31 in the 60 and 40 year periods respectively. But ranked 60 and 82 in the last 10 and 5 year periods. Their rank also declined every period as we got closer to today.
