Memphis has an experienced, tall and athletic team. They’ll be one of the top teams in the country this season. Let’s not rush to judge the Tigers yet. Here are the reasons to still have some optimism:

1) Either Grill is the second coming of CVL or he’ll get his shot on track. I’d like to see him only take set shots where he isn’t rushed. Much of the time right now he’s forcing it.

2) The freshmen look like they belong especially Ant. You can’t win with the 3 we have but they can provide some quality minutes.

4) Carter seems to be more athletic than last year and, I think he’ll have a big year.

5) You have to think that Honor will revert back to form and not drive the ball into the middle with no plan anymore. Uncharacteristic poor play today.

6) We had very little post protection tonight, that should change with Vanover

7) The rotation will tighten up, we won’t see Majak or Kaleb for much longer. Kaleb looks marginally better but he absolutely cannot shoot the ball. Majak looks uncoordinated.

8) As long as the opposition isn’t able to focus on him, East has upped his game. He can’t allow himself to be taken out of half the game though.

9) Tonje looked incredibly rusty, he’s got to be better than that.

10) We looked terrible last year against kU. We bounced back and had a great year. Hopefully a teaching moment.
