After going to the game last night, going to bed in the crappy Columbia Courtyard, and getting up early to drive back to STL for work, I've not read anything on the board. So I apologize if this is redundant to everything that's already been discussed.
- I'm less optimistic for the season than I was before this game. Hoped to see a more dynamic offense. A few plays aside, we look like the same thing we rolled out last year. Its boring and fine enough against an FCS team. I don't see a different result though once we get to the meat of the schedule.
- Hurt or not, Brady is who we thought he was. There were some facets that improved, namely he looked more poised in the pocket. But his lack of arm strength, inconsistency leading receivers to the right spot, struggles to diagnose a defense pre-snap, etc. all remain. He's an ok QB, just limited in ability. I stick with my off season thoughts that a Brady led team has a 6 win ceiling. Don't quote me the stat line, it isn't relevant given the competition.
- Horn is head a shoulders above cook in pure talent. The sample size is just too damn small, which is really disappointing considering what we were expecting to see. Where Brady's abilities limit this team, Horn's offer the potential for so much more. He may ultimately be less successful than Brady, we don't know. But the possibility of success that he offers that I don't believe Brady can make him the right choice as opposed to settling for mediocrity.
- I don't trust Drink. The whole argument that we don't see practice and we have to trust that he's going to play the QB that gives us the best chance to win games. I just don't buy it. See #1.
- Still worried about the O-line. Too many penalties still. Didn't see a level of dominance you'd expect over an FCS team.
- Defense is good, maybe elite. We'll see.
- Marvin Burks is going to be a star.
