There were 3 games I was particularly interested in yesterday.
Iowa vs Iowa State. Wife is a Hawkeye. I predicted that Iowa‘s dominant defense would lead them to a 14-13 win. I didn’t account for the defense actually scoring though and the final was 20-13.
Furman vs South Carolina. I predicted South Carolina to have a healthy bounce back game and win 52-14. Close here as well as they ended up 47-21. Gamecocks will play Georgia fairly close next week. Then USC will believe they are the very best football team in the history of football. The manic depressives in that fan base make Mizzou fans somehow seem normal.
Mizzou vs MTSU. The Fighting Stockstills are a tough out. They have a fairly long history of knocking off teams who don’t respect them and pack some biscuits for the fight. Mizzou has definite history with MTSU and Coach Pinkel’s Tigers with Brad Smith were very very fortunate to survive in overtime with a 1 point win. Odom (with Drew Lock I might add) lost 😡 on Homecoming to MTSU 51-45.
Given this background and given most folks mistaken impression that we were actually playing a blood donor program, I predicted for Mizzou to win 31-30.
Now——I had expected a close game—-but it was looking like I was worried about nothing at all when we were up 13 deep in the 4th quarter with a 4th and 2 feet at THEIR 45.
Then WTF 🤬 🤬 🤬. We punt???? You have absolute and TOTAL control of the game at that point. You muscle up and say just try and stop me. If you do—play on. If you don’t——-GAME OVER!!!!
Oh and —- the failure to recognize Nate Peat as your best proven tailback is mind boggling. Oh and I understand that some would say but but but he’s been stopped for no gain or loss of yardage.
Ok——then how about two TE, 1 RB, and 2 WR. Play action fake and hit Burden or Wease streaking down the sideline????
