This position does what for us? I have no clue whether to lay doubt on the talent or the coaching or the commitment to it. I haven't seen a tight end beat a linebacker in a match-up, post up in a soft spot against a db with a stick or a stab route or make a good block. The short and intermediate middle of the field doesn't need to be defended against the pass due to this. It certainly wouldn't cure all ills on the offense, but it is possibly less productive than qb and offensive line
