During the week following Mike Alden's forced retirement, Chancellor Loftin briefed Mizzou AD's senior staff members on the parameters for his search. He told them he would not compromise on each of the following primary criteria:
1. Integrity
2. Proven history of high-level fundraising
3. A sitting AD from a D1 school, because Mizzou doesn't have to search anywhere to find the right person
He also told them he desired to have the entire thing wrapped up in 3-4 weeks' time. He was true to his word in all facets. They just took off the market the hottest name in young, successful AD's right now. Nice work by our system and campus leadership here.
Alden's last day will be occurring far earlier than August. I was told that Mike's last day will essentially be the day prior to Rhoades' first day. This will allow him to get a good jumpstart on that new campus leadership program.
