"Morin said there were likely several reasons for the decrease, including unusually high turnover in Truman’s admissions staff during the summer. She also said the numbers were likely affected by changing Midwest demographics which have led to a lower number of high school students and by a substantial marketing effort by the University of Missouri, which aimed to make up for its own enrollment decline in previous years.

“When you put a million and a half dollars into marketing, that will have an impact,” Morin said of MU."
