Dare I say, a mini-Chamber?
We're not going to promise one of these every night this week, but when there's enough news we'll do it. Considering this is the first day in 15 months there has been any in-person, on-campus recruiting, we figured what the hell?
*There were two players on campus today
Roberts-Day worked out for the staff in one of the new on-campus evaluations that are being allowed this summer. Roberts-Day already held an offer prior to the workout, but this was a chance to meet face to face, see each other in person and reinforce the offer. @Sean_Williams plans to talk with him tomorrow. Roberts-Day doesn't plan to make a decision until the fall, possibly even after his senior season. Oklahoma State and Baylor are thought to be the frontrunners at this time and he'll take some visits, but Missouri should stay in this one. There's not a rush on either side here.
Herzog also worked out and impressed the coaches enough to pick up an offer today. He already has offers from Kansas State, Northwestern, Stanford and Iowa and has official visits set to all four in June. Mizzou will push to get the fifth official, whether it's another trip this month or during the season. Academics are definitely a factor. If staying close to home is too, the Tigers could be in good shape here, but they are playing catch up to the schools that have already locked in visits.
NIGHT AT THE ZOU
The elite prospect, invite only event is tomorrow. The big news came out today on Frank Cusumano's Twitter account:
There have been whispers for at least two months that Burden is looking around and could flip to the Tigers. But this is the first concrete evidence that he'll entertain it. It's not insignificant not only that he is coming to campus, but that he's bringing his family and they're talking about the trip publicly. It would be a surprise if anything happened immediately, but who knows? Regardless, Burden will take some trips. He's already tweeted about visiting Oklahoma this month and he is going to a 7 on 7 event at Alabama. Obviously, getting a flip would be ideal for Missouri, but it wouldn't mean the Tigers could relax. This will be a battle until signing day. But this visit is an indication that the Tigers are going to be a part of the battle. They'll give him the red carpet treatment and I would expect a number of the St. Louis players that know Burden well to be lead salesmen.
