Marcus Clarke can really run has a nice skill set and has playing experience. His eligibility is unknown but Baker thinks he brings a calmness to the secondary.

He hopes to hear about his eligibility before KSU game obviously.

He said KSU's Vaughn’s patience and balance is what separates him.

He was pleased with the tackling in week 1.

He expects Adrian Martinez to have a bigger role this week. He eludes that they were probably holding him back a little.

Basically said that the explosive plays is unacceptable and that he had a talk with the safeties coach after the game (he’s the safeties coach).

He said that dropping the defensive ends has to drop in coverage because of RPOs and things of that nature. He said the defensive line is selfless about doing things like that.

He said that they have to block out the noise and that Missouri has to worry about themselves and have to block out the fans.

He said Manuel and Carnell had outstanding games in the STAR spot. He said they add different flavors to the defense.

He said Carlies and Charleston had technique errors that led to big TDs vs LA Tech and it wasn’t due to their speed. He said that was more on him than the players.

He said they will have to learn concepts as far as facing a KSU team that will use multiple personnel units.

He said KAD has a calmness about him and that he was pleased with KAD’s first game at outside cornerback.

He said Manuel isn’t limited by the club and that in the next week or so he will be out of the club.

Next up is Jaylon Carlies.

He said that tackling was a thing he worked on this offseason.

He said he tries to use speed to eliminate plays.

He said Vaughn is an electric player and that coming at good angles is key to stopping a player like him.

He said that defensive line playing well helps them in the back line and secondary.

He thinks there's not too much of a difference scheme-wise from last season. He thinks they just improved on what they thought they should improve on (namely run defense and tackling).

He said Marcus Clarke is a good player and that he played Pop Warner with him.

Next up is Jayden Jernigan.

He remembers that KSU is fast and that Vaughn is able to move but that the team needs to be disciplined to stop KSU this time.

He was happy with the run defense last season. He said that nothing changes mentally as far as keying in on the run and being physical vs. KSU.

He said their o-line is disciplined, and that they have to out-physical them. "Whoever wins the trenches wins the game."

He said they have to stay gap disciplined.

Jernigan said whatever problems the team had last season the transfers take on as if it was them and use it as motivation to get better.

Next up is Martez Manuel

Said that everyone did their job and said he felt comfortable playing close to the box but that he does still want to help contribute in the back end.

He said that they have to fall back on their training. He said he was doing tackling drills on smaller tackle dummies to prepare for deuce Vaughn.

He said that the transfers have a lot of character to take on the issues that the team had last season.

Said he is expecting to see more from Adrian Martinez. He said he has a strong arm and that his best quality is his legs.

Said he's been talking to d-line with gap discipline and that Deuce is patient and wants everyone to stay in the gap and not try and make a play at the risk of messing up their own job.

He said the defense's identity can be attributed to Baker.

He said he fully broke his club tackling today (NOT HIS HAND) but that he wouldn't be surprised to play in another club on Saturday. It's a game-time decision on if he has to wear the club or not. But he will play regardless.

Next up is Kristian Williams

Said that the pass he tipped that led to pick six was a blessing and an exciting moment.

Said that more prep that goes into facing KSU. He said that they need to control the point and be where they're supposed to be when they need to be there. Gap discipline is the theme.

He said they have to stop the run and make them more one dimensional.
