Also of note is that NC State has been voting with UNC on the issue of whether to add Stanford and Cal to the ACC, so I had already suspected that they were linked together when it comes to realignment.
I strongly doubt the Big Ten would want to take both UNC and NC State. The SEC might though.
NC State is an alright school so it wouldn't be terrible, and getting UNC would be nice. Taking both gives Mizzou two more beatable conference opponents in football, and both would boost things on the basketball side.
UNC and NC State gets you to 18.
If you want to go to 20, I think the candidates would be Florida State, Clemson, Virginia, and Virginia Tech. Probably 2 out of 4 of those.

Lots of rumors that these moves will happen within 4 years, rather than the 13 years that are left on the grant of rights. I'm not sure how that would work but that's what people keep saying.
