First, lets agree that Cuonzo is getting fired. Its a when and not an if. Just like with Quin late and Kim early. We saw it coming for a while.
But take off your PM.com or Tigerboard glasses. DRF can't ignore the public perception. You can't fire Cuonzo mid season.
Cuonzo made the tournament last year and 2 of his 4 years. He is very well respected in the coaching world. He has a contract that says you can't fire him (whether that is true or not, doesn't matter). He lives his life and operates the program in a way that is beyond reproach (sans recruiting and on court results).
So he will get to coach out this year and he deserves that. This year has to be played out so the evidence is clear that MIZZOU had to move on. Winning 10 games or less in year 5 is not acceptable. But we aren't there yet. Have to let Cuonzo lay in the bed he has made.
DRF has her work cut out to cut a deal with him to agree to a separation after this year (before May 1). The contract makes that sticky but not impossible. Not to mention raising the $6M for the buyout.
The good news is we get to see what DRF is made of. Both in managing the CM separation and finding the next leader of our mens program.
Also, live look at @hoodtiger during the Liberty game.
