Not a GDT ... just my opinion on the game and team ... today.
The girls win today. Not dismissing this win, it was badly needed and they worked through the good 1st Q and then ... losing a big lead to get it together enough to get it back; a bit, and then win ... some what convincingly. This of course is against a team not near the level of who we have had to face lately.
But ... ?
In the future it won't be any easier, nor has it been up to now (duh). I just watched the game and tried to focus on what I think the team is or the parts there-of. Agree or not it's just my opinion. I may be easily swayed by a better assessment. I'm not thinking what I beleive, of this team, is golden. Feel free to interject.
Chavis? I was and am a big proponent for her … she was a decent pg replacement for Aldridge. She is not a pg. She is miscast (nothing new with this coach) ... Coach? She is a good ball handler terrible passer. She should be a focus of this offense. Work for her to be open. Open lanes. She can fvcking shoot. Coach?
Green? Is she ... I would never put Troup in there or is she Roundtree light? I don't think so to the latter ... but is she as good defensively? IDK ... hope she doesn't leave. We will be woefully short handed if she does.
Nobody really wants the ball … or wants to take the shot. Maybe they can’t make the shot with a hand up. IDK ...
Schuchts … so limited and yet so important. Bless her heart. I've said she is not a starting level forward but I think I have changed my tune a tad to … not without help. If you have a couple front court players, in addition, she would be a heck of a compliment player. I think Hannah has a lot of heart. She is just being asked to do more than most players can overcome. I like Hannah. Her "I didn't commit that foul"... thing, it is priceless. I don't think she has ever committed a foul. Biggest fault? She just needs help. Coach?
Roundtree … if only this extremely fine athlete grew a scorers mentality … Coach?
Frank is not very good in the paint other than a layup. She is a shooter. She isn’t bad defensively. Some one needs to tell her not to bring the ball down, below her shoulders, under the rim. It just gets took away. It looks like Schuchts. I think that could be coaching. She is not a strong forward. She is a perimeter jump shooter. Of course only a freshman … I'm not selling her short.
Aijha … just keep watching. Oh yeah. Needs to watch Rhyne Howard highlights.
