I have to say I'm a bit surprised that our defense is as bad as it is. I was hoping that we'd find big improvement over the first three games, but that doesn't seem to be happening. I'll be interested to see how we adjust going forward.
I tend to agree with the folks who are saying last year we had two wins they covered up how bad the team really is. Eli even went so far as to warn us about expectations over the summer. I was on the 8 and 4 or 7 and 5 bandwagon... It appears I was over aggressive. But the good news is if he can hang on to this class, the foundation will be laid for a good few years 2 years down the road. Can we be patient enough for that? We'll see.
My greatest concern is not about fans jumping ship, those of us who are die-hards have been here through thick and thin... My real concerns about recruiting. Eli has shown that he can recruit, and the hype around our team has really helped his cause. But losing doesn't sell, and there are a lot of options out there for the good players.
P back to my original thought... At least we're not Vandy or kU. We have hope and a lot of good pieces in place already. Those two programs are so far gone I don't know how they get out of their hole. Let's stick with the team, enjoy the four or five wins that we get this year, and pray that Eli can keep this class and add on to it. It's going to take time... But if we are honest, we knew that already.
