Back in 1991, US Soccer head coach or whatever, Gregg Berhalter, kicked his wife in the shins outside of a bar while they were dating in college. They broke up for 7 months, both families were aware of the incident, then they reconciled and have been married for 25 years and have four children together.
Some asswipe is attempting to blackmail Berhalter and threatened to publicly release this info. Berhalter and his wife got ahead of it with this tweet release.
If he's wife's forgiven him for an incident that occurred 31 years ago and there's been no known recurrences, I personally believe this isn't something that should affect his career. What does everyone else think?
Of note, his contract with US Soccer expired on 12/31/2022 and US Soccer is investigating. After the dump our USMNT took at the WC, I'm guessing he's going to be cancelled and they won't tender him a new contract.
Lastly, can we take a moment to reflect on how kicking someone in the shins during a fight is the most soccer thing ever.
