Again, this team is undermanned and everyone outside of Bates is playing about two rungs higher than they should be. Another issue with Tonje and Grill not being available, it forces Honor, Bates and East to play more minutes than they should be playing. Guess what that means, the last 5 minutes of the game, they're tired and it's easier for the other team to pull away.
Coach Gates is a very good coach. He listened to me and made the adjustment to hedging on the pick n roll, and they defended it better. It was very effective when Butler was in the game because he's so agile, but his ass gets tired so quick. It's frustrating, but my daughter has the same issue so I understand. We actually get a decent amount of open shots in the offense, but we don't have the shot makers right now. That's not a reflection of Gates as a coach, it's a result of not having the guys.
