BASKETBALL Will Coronavirus cause cancelation of NCAA tournament

If not, they're f*cked.

It won’t be limited to just Italy. We’re all f*cked if it doesn’t work there. New data shows the coronavirus will not subside in the warmer months, which means it’s here to stay. Forever. This has the potential to kill billions of people. Yes, billions.

We have fewer than 1M beds in US hospitals. If even 350k need hospitalization in the next 6 weeks, it will decimate the system. By mid-April, I think we have a national quarantine. Everything will be shut down.

This is terrifying.

It's likely that the virus will begin to fade as spring hits and weather becomes milder and more humid. I'm more worried about us letting our guards down over the summer and then having it return with a vengeance in the fall, much like the 1918 (and '19) flu outbreak.

Are people still falling for this shtick [roll]

Have to be diligent, Chinese and Italian are off the menu -- even in the summer months.

No, it doesn't. It has the potential to affect billions of people, yes. In the US, the worst-case scenario that is currently being advanced has about 1/3 of the country infected with about half a million dead.

I'm not minimizing the impact--that scenario above is a big deal that would dramatically affect the lives of all of us, but let's pump the brakes before you start going down the BILLIONS doomsday scenario path.

Before a vaccine can be developed and distributed, yes, this has the potential to kill billions of people.

Um, okay. I believe that you believe that, I guess.

I heard a report on SiriusXM P.O.T.U.S. that the mortality rate in China is much higher than the ~4% the Chinese government has released. The speculation is it's closer to 16%. At that rate, over the next several years before a vaccine, it will wipe out large swaths of the global population.

The coronavirus will completely alter the way we live our lives.

Yeah I’m 70. In great health but the best I can hope for is to get severe flu like symptoms. Most likely everyone 65 and over in the US will be killed off before the end of the summer ..... according to a few on this board.
Amazing they can post that shit

Wait, people ITT can’t tell Jmon Moore is trolling?

Clearly he is, but in a situation like this, it's worth the trouble of refuting the ridiculous claims of others about this. It's not funny to spread false information about a very real public health crisis.

100% agree on all accounts.

The first death in the US happened today. The FAA needs to ground all flights. Schools should be closed. This is serious stuff.
There have been several thousand death do to regular flu this year I think we maybe jumping the shark on this one

I've heard it'll probably only slow down by about 20% or so in the summer. Which will help some but won't fix it.

FWIW, Numbahs, or JMon, or whatever he's calling himself, is trolling and posting nonsense.

I'm posting what the top scientists are saying. Whether they're right or nto is TBD, but ignore them at your own risk.

"Billions" dying would imply literally everyone got it and a third or more them died from it. That's not even remotely plausible. If you're wanting to hoodwink people, at least make your lies plausible.

Reread it, pal. I clearly indicated that would be prior to a vaccine becoming available, which could be years.

The death rate isn't near high enough to cause "billions" of deaths. Maybe millions. But billions is out of reach for this thing.

Millions is a sure thing. The guy who presented to the AHA said there is likely to be 500k in the US alone in the next 12 months.
It's preventable with massive public health action around the world, but short of that, yeah, that's what will happen.

Troll on. Everyone double up on their 401k contributions. This is hysteria. It’s like people actually think the zombie apocalypse is upon us. Again, disasters get clicks. I feel bad for the people over 75 that get this. It will be a mf to get over but the rest of the population is going to be relatively fine. And a good percentage of people have already had it and didn’t know it. And I am not a doctor. But I do have common sense. Something that is lacking in the world most days.

I’ve had my 401K balance in bonds for about six months. I’ve been waiting for a dip in the market before moving back to stocks.

The coronavirus madness has presented a great opportunity for level-headed investors. Today, I moved 50% to stocks. If the selloff continues, then I will move the remaining 50% to stocks.

Investors are going to make a ton of money off the overreaction to the coronavirus.

Damn. So the media ran with that and people took it as fact. Unfortunate.
No the "media" did not run with that. The one guy on twitter you cited (not a journalist) misread the one story on it - that it was an AHA stat vs a presentation to the AHA.

That said, the guy who presented it is an expert in the field and it's pretty consistent with other projections from actual experts

If the SEC tournament is cancelled, I'm claiming a share of the national championship for Mizzou.

We won our last game.

Ivy League just canceled their tourney.
Ohio governor recommending for indoor contests to be played with only essential personnel....just a recommendation now but the MAC tournament is held there this weekend I believer along with the First Four in Dayton and i think another site
