Interesting discussion on the Yahoo! college sports pod today. If the NCAA more or less goes away and the NCAA Tournament turns into a playoff between teams from the biggest conferences, will you watch?
Personally, I wouldn't. I watch the tournament almost entirely for the first two rounds. I still pay attention after that, but I'm less interested unless we have an Oral Roberts or a Butler situation. The championship game is blah most of the time.
College hoops survives almost completely on the tournament at this point. The regular season has become a niche sport. If basketball were to follow the way a lot of people think football is going, I think interest is pretty much gone.
