I'm sure this will ruffle a few feathers but the truth is Mizzou might benefit from losing to Wyoming on week one. Every College Football team that has a lot of success is open to let down weeks. Look at Georgia just this past week. My guess is now Georgia will be a better team with a fire lit under their ass.
Let down games are bad and there's a group of the fan base who believes we'd be undefeated right now if Wyoming doesn't happen. But what if the letdown game happens against USC last week or Ole Miss this past weekend instead? Which is actually more damaging? Mizzou sits at 2-0 which looks huge in the grand scheme of things. If Mizzou is 7-1 in the SEC and 10-2 overall, will anyone care about Wyoming? The answer is overwhelmingly no.
I was just as furious as anyone when it happened but teams need a kick in the ass sometimes and it is better that it happened in week one vs an OOC opponent than week 6 against a conference opponent. With the schedule the way it is this year, Mizzou has a chance to take advantage of UGA and Florida having tough West opponents (SEC needs to go to 9 conference games, but a discussion for another time).
If Wyoming doesn't happen does this team take care of business with the focus it has? Maybe an impossible question to answer but as the old adage goes, it is WHEN you lose, not WHO you lose to.
