BASKETBALL Cuonzo Martin Consulting Service

First of all, what a win by our Tigers. Boy did our tigers FIGHT!

Last night got me thinking, by all accounts Cuonzo is taking this year off to reset and recharge. Gates has mentioned constantly about his thankfulness for the coaches who came before him and he even contacts them regularly. I’m sure Cuonzo being the type of guy he is graciously responds each time.

Maybe Gates could have Cuonzo drop in for a few practices as a “defensive consultant”? If anything, Cuonzo yelling “HANDS” at this team all practice could really do them some good. Cuonzo was a master at teaching how to close out on 3 point shooters as well which is one of our biggest weaknesses. I think Gates would at least make him say no?

FOOTBALL "There’s a CHIP in the FOOTBALL and we’re still using DUDES WITH STICKS to measure FIRST DOWNS???!!!"

with Mechanical Umpires being used starting this Spring in AAA professional baseball...and replay cameras and chips in balls...how long before human umpires, officials, and referees are completely OUT in professional sports? Good thing? Or bad?

NEW STORY FINAL THOUGHTS: MIZZOU 79, ARKANSAS 76

I don't have a lot. It's 12:09 a.m. and I just watched a two-and-a-half hour basketball game that featured 55 fouls and 66 free throws. I don't have a whole lot left.

*I'm not sure this saved the season. But I'm not sure it didn't. Doubt was creeping in, if not on the bench, at least in the fanbase. And at 67-57, you thought they were dead. Don't feel bad. So did I. And then they just made plays.

*There were whistles. My God, were there whistles. I actually thought most of them in the first half were deserved. But the second half got out of hand. Still, give Missouri credit. By the 10 minute mark of the second half, you knew how that game was being called. So you could deal with it and take advantage of it as much as possible or you could whine about it after a loss. Missouri took advantage of it. Dennis Gates said the players said in the huddle at the under 16 timeout to quit even acknowledging the refs. Don't complain to them, don't even look at them. Just go play. Missouri did.

*The Tigers started out 15-23 from the free throw line. They ended up 30-40. That's 15 of the last 17. That's why they won.

*Tonight was our first look at what this team might be. It was almost a complete roster. They'll get Noah Carter back (I don't know if that will be by Saturday or not). Mo Diarra is contributing. Isiaih Mosley is contributing. Aidan Shaw is improving. Dennis Gates has 11 guys he can play. That gives a coach a lot of options.

*I thought Sean East and Nick Honor were very indicative of this team tonight. Neither one did anything in the first half. Honor hit a ballsy three to give the Tigers a six point lead. They didn't hold it, but it was big at the time. He also got a steal that gave Missouri a two-possession lead late. East may not have taken a shot in the first 30 minutes of the game. And then he scored 12 points in the final eight minutes or so and really started Missouri's charge back from the ten point deficit.

*If I were you guys, I'd probably hold off on destroying Dre Gholston until games are all the way over. I get he's frustrating at times. But the dude has a knack for coming up with huge shots when Missouri needs them. He did it again tonight. Probably a lot of funny posts we could go back and find.

*Huge win. The best team in the league comes in Saturday. They're not just beating everyone, they're blowing them out. But Mizzou Arena is going to be packed and Missouri got a little bit of confidence back. Toss the ball up and see what happens. Should be fun. It's great having big games back in this building.

*Here's my story from tonight as well as post-game video. @drewking0222 and @JHamilton23 are pounding their keyboards next to me and will have stories for you later tonight (this morning) as well.
