Gates says back when he got the job he heard a lot about fans wanting the throwback uniforms back. Says they connect the fans to the peak of the program's success.
Says they'll have some former players and their families in for alumni weekend.
Talking about the last game, says Kaleb Brown changed the game at Ole Miss. Says Mo Diarra has given the team a jolt of energy and Isiaih Mosley's minutes have been great for the team.
Says Diarra will continue to get better. Legs are slowly but surely getting underneath them.
Says both Mizzou and Iowa State want to play their typical style/pace.
Says Iowa State is good enough to be a one seed. Says he's known TJ Oetzelberger since Gates was a GA at Marquette and Oetzelberger was a high school coach. Says they play defensive oriented, grind it out basketball with a lot of passes.
I asked him about being able to "dictate the pace." He said ultimately what dictates the pace is who's making shots.
Says tomorrow will feel like March.
"I feel for the referees" because of the style of both teams. Says early games have a time frame in which you'd like to complete the game and the referees are the gatekeepers of that.
Says right now he doesn't think Tre Gomillion will play tomorrow, but that can change
