Auburn's NIL is sitting at about $13M

Ole Miss is at $10m. Anyone have an idea how Mizzou's NIL efforts are going? I don't believe Mizzou can keep up with the Alabamas and Ohio States of the world, but should be in range of schools like Ole Miss.

The head of the Ole Miss-affiliated NIL collective says the organization has topped the $10 million mark — among the highest reported levels of “name, image and likeness” funding in the nation.

The update from the Grove Collective, the organization collecting funds to distribute to Ole Miss athletes, comes as Rebels head football coach Lane Kiffin decides whether he’ll stay at Ole Miss or leave for SEC divisional rival Auburn, as has been reported in recent days.

Availability of NIL funds has emerged as perhaps the most important factor to college athletes and coaches since the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in 2021 that players could be compensated for their likenesses. These funds are raised by collectives and used to pay college athletes for corporate sponsorships.

Locker Room Culture, Playing Freshmen, etc.

This is obvious, but I thought about this after seeing Zach Lovett was in the portal. He's a redshirt freshman.

How do you implement a system, build a culture, etc, when you have new people popping in and out each year?

It's insane to me that if you don't play much as a redshirt freshman in the SEC that you think you should transfer. Now, of course, he could have been told he wouldn't ever get to play, but I really doubt that.

Are these guys thinking this through? If you don't play here for the first two years, does he think he'll transfer back to a power-five Florida school? Most will have to transfer down, you'd think. However, with all the movement, perhaps people will just trade players, again, disrupting culture and making it hard to build anything.

Great job, NCAA for doing nothing and creating and adding fuel to an absolute dumpster fire.

FOOTBALL SCREW HIRING AN OC, USE THE MONEY TO PUT TOGETHER A SCOUTING DEPARTMENT

The game has changed. We no longer just have to identify HS and Junior College kids that can play at the SEC level, we need to identify every kid at FCS and non-Power 5 schools that can play at the SEC level. Not only that, we need to identify every kid at the other Power 5 schools that might only be getting limited playing time that we would like to bring in. To do that, we need a full time scouting staff watching every game these kids paly and putting a list together of who can help us. Then back channeling those kids that we are interested. This is gonna be a HUGE task. It is gonna take a significantly larger off the field staff.

Clearly we are going to lose players to blue blood programs. We are going to have to replace those players by being better than everyone else at identifying and obtaining players from other programs. NCAA rules limit on field coaches, but I think support staff can be whatever you want to spend on it. We need to get ahead of the game and adjust now.
