The number one thing I focused on wasn"t the "crappy big 10 11 12" opponent, nor the "this is a lesser bowl, the SEC hates us" mantra. What sticks out to me is this is on New Years Eve Day at 2:45 pm on ESPN.
My opinion is that people tend to watch more bowl games on NYE and NYD than any other day. They also tend to watch ESPN for games. ESPN has a continual build up to their games so I see as getting maximum exposure for a non NYD big 6 game than most other bowls.
