I'm going to keep these short because I'm tired and I doubt there's much that hasn't been said on here.
First of all, any of us (me included) who started to talk about a 10-win season and contending in the East got fooled. This team is not that talented. If they played their best ball with this schedule, maybe they could have had a shot at one or the other, but it would have taken an extraordinary level of execution for a college team because as we have seen, their C effort is not good enough to beat pretty much anybody. There's not a sure win left on the schedule except maybe Arkansas.
I don't understand the home-road difference. The only possible explanation I have is that this team (and coaching staff) really struggles to create its own intensity, which you have to be able to do on the road and in a soggy or sleepy game like the last couple weeks. Mizzou looked like it lost its intensity after the missed FG tonight and didn't recover for the rest of the first half. That can't happen.
I think Kelly Bryant was healthy enough to stay in the game tonight had he been playing better. That said I believe he is still the starting QB after the bye.
Lastly, I'm certainly not going to tell anyone not to be upset. This loss would have stung in a vacuum, but couple it with last week's and the loss at Wyoming and it's valid to be deeply concerned about the direction of both this year's team and the program as a whole. However, I feel obligated to say that no one is getting fired tonight. No one is getting fired this week. I highly, highly doubt anyone is getting fired before the final snap of the season is played. At the end of the year, the powers that be will take a look at all the factors, from the record to the financial situation to the energy of the players, and make a decision. Certainly these last two games will factor into the decision. But without seeing how the rest of the season plays out, it seems to me like a waste of time to speculate what that decision will be and fire up a hot board. I know that won't stop you. But I had to say that.
I'll have a grade card in the morning and we'll also have PFF stuff. Goodnight.
