I realize I'm new here, but has this place always this depressing after a win? It seems to me that several people are already announcing the season is over.

Back on September 23, 2007, was our season already over after this game? Missouri 38, Illinois State (FCS) 18
If so, you would have missed a heck of a game the next week. This was a game Chase threw two interceptions (team threw three total) and he had to play almost the entire game, Wolfert missed a 34 yard FG, and it was 21-10 until the last play of the half against an FCS team.

Was it over on September 8, 2013? Mizzou 38, Toledo 23
This was a game that Mizzou was up by one until the last play of the third quarter against a 7-5 MAC team.

How about on August 31, 2014? Mizzou 38, South Dakota State (FCS) 18
This was a game that was 21-18 in the third quarter against an FCS team, and Mauk had to play the entire game.

My point is you can't read too much into one individual game early in the season, especially against an FCS team. A win is a win, and teams are allowed to improve as the season goes along. Nobody would have guessed that these three seasons would have turned out the way they did in early September. I'm not saying this season will turn out like one of these three (the odds aren't great), but the joy of being a fan is the unknown on a week-to-week basis.
