I wonder what Drink has been feeling as he has watched these basketball games. Full arena, engaged crowd, great atmosphere, lots of love for the coach and the team even when they lose... I wonder if this energizes him.... I think it should.

When Gates came in he brought in some of the best mid-major talent he knew from his stint at Cleveland State. As another thread stated last April, this team Gates was building could win the Horizon league! But Gates knew what he was doing, and in one season he has us beating ranked opponents, he has us playing excited ball, he has us on the radar of even better recruits, and he has reenergized the fanbase in a way we have not seen since Porter stepped on the court.

It takes longer to build a football program, it takes more recruits, it takes better players, it takes more development and coordination. That is just the game. And while Drink has been building, he has been begging for fan support. He has been demanding more energy. He has been trying to develop what Gates has reignited... one could get down about it. But if I was Coach Drink I would be at every game. Soaking in the atmosphere. Dreaming of what could be. Showing my face so people know the football program supports what Gates is doing. And planning how to capture this magic next year, a critical year for the football program. How do you get people to buy in and believe.. Maybe there is something there for Drink to learn from Gates' playbook... cold be...

I hope Drink and DRF have a playbook for football like Gates has for Baskeball... and I hope this coming year is HIS coming out party. How special would it be to have both programs firing on all cylinders? It certainly would be a great time to be a Tiger!
