Drink said the loss is basically on him and that he's proud of them. He said that he's proud of the team for taking the lead in the third but he has to put them in a better position to score in the 4th quarter.
He said underclassmen have to use this game as fuel.
He said every time they got momentum they shot themselves in the foot with penalties or sacks and that's why they ended the game with three turnovers on downs and two punts.
Tyrone Hopper's shoulder popped out again.
He said Chad and Ennis are just competitors and that's why there was a skirmish .
He said it was good to see Mookie and Peanut step up. He said they have to continue to grow WR room and create rhythm offensively.
He said Luther's muffed punt was a "true freshman trying to make a play"
He said the defense plays too well for the offense not to score in the 4th quarter.
Drink said he couldn't make the memorial service on Tuesday because of bowl prep and that's why he got that shirt made yesterday. He said it was a tribute to him.
Coach is with D-Rob and Banister at the podium and he said that the pair don't flinch and keep fighting. He said the underclassmen owe it to them to keep it moving forward. He said they have to fight through NCAA sanctions, COVID, coaching changes etc. He called them the foundation of turning it around.
Banister said he's thankful for Drink for allowing him to play and he said it's bigger than one game. He reflects on relationships he's made and that he's forever grateful to the university.
Eli was asked was this season successful and he said success isn't always linear. He said to be 2-4 and then lose a number of one-possession games and then fight back after the bye --- the seniors are successful, but that him as a coach he's not successful.
Darius Robinson will play in the East-West Shrine bowl and says he hasn't made a decision yet to go to the Draft. He said in the next week or two he will have an answer.
Robinson said that players have to do a better job at executing.
When I asked about the offensive line play he said that he said "it's a next-play philosophy," but that they went 2 of 5 on 4th down and didn't score in the 4th quarter and that's why they loss.
Banister said this should've been a nine or 10 win team. He said that he will tell the underclassmen that the opportunity is there to take that next step.
Drink is a little choked up after Banister says some nice words about how hard he preps these guys an what he's done for them.
