i had dinner with a friend from Joplin who works for Coach Drink’s brother. According to him, his brother said that Arkansas offered Him the job and told him he had to answer that day. Drink ( and his new agent) wanted a 6 year deal. The hogs weren’t willing to do that and moved on. Mizzou came in the next day and said he had to answer right away as well.
He said that things happened really fast. He said that Mrs Drink was having a hard time wrapping her head around $4 mil. Someone then told her that the checks he’d be getting would be around $200,000 every other week ( not sure if that math is correct but that is what my friend relayed ) Apparently the look on her face was telling as would mine be!
I’m not sure he would have gone to the other guys if they would have offered a six year contract. I see where Pittman’s contract was 3 mill for 5 years.
SIAP, I just found it all interesting. I’m gad we got this guy. I’m not sure where we’d have gone if he had accepted Arkie’s offer. The way he told the story we weren’t on him until after the hogs made their offer. I could be wrong on that. It is just how I interpreted.
