I can’t stop thinking about how Gates handled Grill coming off the floor. So many coaches would have Bobby Knighted him. Gates, seeing how upset Grill was, gently calmed him down, reassured him, and hugged him. Who does that? And then sent Kaleb Brown (he wasn’t doing anything else) to the locker room to look after Grill.
Then after the game he told the team that Grill was the spark, the turning point, and they all mobbed Grill.
