I was a student at Mizzou from '08-'13, Kim English and squad ARE Mizzou basketball to me. Those are my fondest memories. Here's what I remember about KE.
Twitter was getting big around '08. I loved following all Mizzou basketball and football players (and Shaq) because this was the first time commoners had an inside look at the daily routines and thoughts of celebrities and "celebrities". Kim English was one of my favorite follows on Twitter, always had impressive wisdom for someone our age. I also remember he always posted quotes from the poem "If" by Rudyard Kipling. Seemed like a real cool dude.
BUT, I also remember him being EXTREMELY frustrating as a player. Travels, bad shots, etc etc. Now, sometimes I look back on those days and realize how spoiled I was w/ Mizzou football and basketball and when I think back on times I thought we sucked.....it actually wasn't all that bad (example: Blaine Gabbert and James Franklin. Two quarterbacks I and most fans were extremely unhappy with at the time, but it's because we were spoiled with Chase, and those two were actually still really good quarterbacks).
So, two-part question:
1) Was KE a really good player and I just have a really poor and spoiled memory of those days?
2) Honestly, where is the coaching hype coming from? Again, I'm a huge fan. But for this board being so anti-true sons after KA......what about him makes this board drool other than the possible feel-good story of him coming back home and [hopefully] leading us back to the glory days?
I'll hang up and listen
