She's still in the WNBA... Her Phoenix Mercury team won their 3rd straight game tonite... And unless something dramatic happens, she'll finish the summer with the Mercury, but when she goes back to playing ball in the fall & winter, she's gonna play in the Australian League... They call it the WNBL (Women's National Basketball League).

This is gonna be kind of a whirlwind for Sophie b/c she just played her senior yr at Mizzou, which went from October to March... The WNBA Draft was in April... Training camp began like 2 weeks later... The preseason began 2 weeks after that and the regular season began in May and won't conclude until September... Teams that make the playoffs will go until early October... Then her new Australian team begins its season in October and goes until late February... Teams that make the playoffs in that league go until March... So that's like a yr & a half of straight basketball with no real rest before she'd get Spring 2020 off before her 2nd WNBA season next summer.

As I understand it, the women's league is very popular in Australia... TV ratings are good and players are very popular (women's sports in general are all pretty popular in Australia)... And players that hope to play in the WNBA like that league b/c they only play 24 games (that's shorter than the NCAA season) and the WNBL season ends in February, which gives players time to rest up and let injuries heal before getting started again with the WNBA season in May.

I know Sophie's family didn't want her to move to Phoenix all by herself, so her sister Lindsay moved in with her for the summer... So I wonder if they're gonna send anybody to Australia with her when she goes or if she's gonna do this one all by herself?
