I could easily see Dan Devine, Chase D., or maybe Brad Smith or even J'Den Cox getting that spot, but do we wanna give 3 spots to football? And even though he might be the most accomplished single athlete in Mizzou history, is Cox famous enough to warrant a spot on that mountain?
I would say Sophie belongs... Not only is she the greatest player in MU WBB history, she's probably the greatest female athlete in MU history... Having her face on that mountain would represent all that... Also factor in how she's a hometown girl, who could've gone anywhere else, but chose Mizzou in 8th grade and stuck with that choice... And then when she got here, she turned the program around and turned it into something ppl really care about and helped make little girls all over the state proud to play sports and fans of Mizzou themselves... I can't tell u how many times over the last couple yrs, I've heard a little girl playing basketball, softball, soccer or even running track say she does that or did that b/c "that's how Sophie Cunningham does it".
I think it'd be real easy to just pick another man for the spot, especially with the terrific careers Devine, Daniel, Smith, and Cox had, but in this case, I think a true daughter like Sophie deserves it... That's why she'd get my vote.
