I am not sure the current number in the portal for basketball but as of Monday there was over 1000 in the transfer portal. When all said and done, how many do you believe will enter the portal? I think it will be somewhere between 1600 and 1800.
There are 351 Div I basketball programs and each can offer 13 scholarships. That puts the number at 4,563 Div I scholarships available. With the current news around college basketball, it appears the number is above 1,140 which would be 25% of the players on scholarship during the 20-21 season have entered the portal.
