Proposal in ks to end permit requirement for conceal carry

Is the permit really an intrusion on gun rights? Does this lead to doing away with getting a driver's license? Why do I need to show the state I can operate a motor vehicle when I don't have to prove I know anything about guns to walk around with one in my pocket?
