Here is something to ponder while we await Porter’s decision, the hiring of the new softball coach, and the next football commitment.
Currently four SEC East teams play an annual non conf game vs an ACC opponent.UGA/GaTech, Carolina/Clemson, Gators/FSU, and Kentucky/Louisville.
I think it would be cool if the SEC had similar such games for all 14 schools. Some would have to be played the first weekend of the season as to not interfere with traditional matchups such as the Iron Bowl, Egg Bowl, etc. I tried to look at two things:
1) Similar level of success between schools, &
2) Regional attraction
Here are my pairings.
Tenn vs Va Tech (end of season)
Vandy vs Wake Forest (end of season)
*Mizzou vs Iowa (Gabe’s choice is Huskers)
*LSU vs Texas
*A&M vs Baylor
*Arkansas vs Okie State (Gabe’s choice again)
*Auburn vs NC State ( in Charlotte)
There is nothing really close to Starkville that makes sense.
Ole Miss vs Memphis?
*Alabama vs Notre Dame in Atlanta and Chicago, alternating years.
* Would be first weekend games over Labor Day Weekend.
