NEW STORY THE CHAMBER: OCTOBER 27TH 2023

Well there you have it, off week on everything.

Better news on Sprague, Quaintance still looking good at Mizzou because Gates is just so good at what he does, just get thru this weekend.
Was hoping when you started on McClellan that he might consider Mizzou since Wingo said no because of more playing time, but you didn't say it.
I don't want Wingo if he doesn't want us, make him engage first.

Was this a sombering chamber to write Gabe?

No

I mean on a recruiting front that read was pretty terrible if we are being honest. No in state recruit flips likely..no new names to watch emerging. McClellan a no go. Reddell a no go. We just need to win next weekend and make this season a magical one. And then obviously clean up in the portal. The Wingo decision was supposed to provide a spark with other in state recruits. It appears there just isn't a lot of interest from any of the highly touted local kids outside of Nwaneri.

Nobody said McClellan was a no go. I don’t view at as likely but the whole point was it is more likely with Wingo at UT than at MU

@GabeD I know the standard response is if you know, we'll know, but any idea on the RB from STA that's committed to UCF?

Insert standard response

Really wondering how Mizzou handles the instate 2025 class. It is not nearly as deep as the last few years. While the NIL rule will favor instate, its not a great class to really take advantage of instate blue chippers. I don't see any scenario where Mozee is a Mizzou Tiger, and he is the only 4* uncommitted. Parker is there and would be a good pickup but he is already committed to arky, why that is beats me.

That's committed right now? Depending on LB depth maybe Huff or Rodriguez. WR room probably too deep for Madison. This could also end up just being a really good depth class in 1 or 2 years. Who knows.
I think they sign portal guys to manage the 2 deep.

If you look at the attrition from the 21 class and likely the attrition form the 22 class.....I think if a HS guy is not playing by year 2 that they end up transferring.

Terrible? What’s wrong with you people. The only thing in there was that the pie in the sky best case most historic scenario is that wingo and mcclellen as a duo aren’t coming here and also just themselves aren’t likely coming here.

If your standard is multiple five stars and flipping high fours from blue bloods then you aren’t cut out to be an above average P5 program recruiting fan.

I'll believe Sprague is flippable when something concrete happens, and I mean on Sprague's side, not Michigan. I don't think Harbaugh's situation is as big a factor because I believe Sherrone Moore will get a close look and might be the favorite to be Harbaugh's replacement.

I'm not deeply concerned with how the rest of this class shapes up because I believe the surge from the on field improvement will first appear in the winter portal period.

How about this positive... the two recruits we offered early when they had little interest from P5 programs are blowing up and getting Bama and LSU offers? i.e. this staff can evaluate which is every bit as important as recruiting.

Honestly, if this season finishes the way we all hope, I think the bounce in-state will come with next year's class and the portal. While the class rank is mid-40s now, I'm really encouraged by the average star rating of our commits, we have a lot of quality in that smaller group. It's also nice to see the STA kids from Florida seem bought in and are solid.

Last I checked, Drinkwitz fixed the entire defense thru the portal in 2022 and bolstered the offensive line and WR room thru the portal in 2023.

Failing to get HS recruits doesn’t have the same impact it once did.

Losing Wingo stinks but we’ve got a ton of talent at WR.

Now we’ve likely got some free’d up NIL to get instant impact players at bigger positions of need in the portal.

It’s a blessing in disguise. More spots to go portaling. Next season has a favorable schedule and playoffs should be the goal.

I agree but we have known that for awhile now. That isn't anything new.

And one of them I told you is almost certainly staying and they’re seeing the other one tonight. Would it be better if good teams didn’t offer the players Missouri wants?

I don't think it's over with Mcclellan at all. It may not be "likely" or imminent but he's still listening.

I don't have have direct inside sources at all but I do have coaching friends (they coach other sports not at CBC but who are plugged in a little bit with coaches) who've been told that his interest is real and they said there's no reason to think Wingo not coming changes that.

I wouldn't take this as confirmation of anything though because it's all grapevine type stuff. No one I've talked to actually talks to the kid.

I almost didn't post it because of the so vague but it is was it is.

Only a positive if they sign with Mizzou

any indication of the two Rivals guys who made a futurecast on JQ losing or gaining confidence in their pick?

We are fine we got the best and most important player in the state.

Getting the right transfers is the more important thing in today's game

No. But old news isn't usually chamber worthy but you already knew that.
You’re the one crying like the world ended here. Knowing that Williams is pretty locked in and seeing where the coaches were recruiting their tails off sure was upsetting.

Also Wingo is also old news now

While I'd obviously like us to land more of these top in-state kids, I truly believe the transfer portal has made it far less critical. A good chunk of our starters right now are kids that didn't sign with Mizzou out of high school.

If Drink and Co can continue to get impact talent via the portal, it will mitigate these losses ...and there's always a decent chance some of these kids don't get the early PT they were expecting at the blue bloods and transfer home.

If I was you I wouldn't handle anything sharp today or step near the ledge of a tall building. man, it isn't that bad. The class is full of high quality prospects, we just haven't hit the 20 number to get full points in Rivals ranking system. We're doing well and Wingo flaking out to Texas doesn't change that. We have 4 star LB guys from Arkansas and Florida in the class, when was the last time that happened?

I agree Wingo was not a position of need. We need more oline and dline players.
I also don’t like relying on the portal. It’s a last chance and sometimes you are going to miss. Need to have some freshmen in the pipeline as well.

This team has multiple starters that were brought in through the portal. Got some nice pieces in this years class, no reason they won’t add more in the portal

Forget about Wingo ... move on! You only want someone who wants to be at Mizzou! We have excellent WRs plus several highly rated WRs waiting for their chance. Wingo going elsewhere increases the probability of them staying at MU. We need OL and DL recruits ... let's track these positions of need.
Mule
Exactly; on all you said.

I think you missed my point. It wasn't a criticism..it was a compliment.
