So I was listening to a podcast this morning after my run. I use the Peloton App for my running, it was interval day, but afterwards, I listen to podcasts for the cool down.

Anyways, the Fintwit was discussing the future of housing in the US, prices, etc. You know we aren't making those babies like we used to. But the discussion turned the the future demand for family housing will drop and the future of families in the US will drop due to the reduction in supply of men successful as or more successful than women. Hear me out:

Most men, conservative, liberal, whatever, don't really care if their wife has a higher income more success than them. BUT, it seems based on statistics, women tend to only want a partner who is laterally as successful or more successful than them. That could be makes more money financially or is in a distinguished job (a judge/doctor). That's all fine and dandy, but if you look at trends, women have been closing the gap on education with the men over the past 2 decades. The result will end up being more women in high paying jobs than men. For example, women make up 46% of the 1L class at Mizzou. I think it was more women than men 2019, but not sure. That's all fine, but based on statistics, if say 20% of those guys marry women who make less than those female law school students, it lowers the supply of candidates for partnership for those women.

The podcast said to conduct your own study, ask friends, etc. So I asked 5 women and 5 men. The women all wanted men who made as much or more. For example, the most woke woman said she wouldn't even date guys who were school teachers. Of course she is 40 and alone. Several of my friends are on the liberal side, most of my female friends are liberal. The guys didn't really care. They would marry a woman who was a school teacher or a top notch lawyer, it didn't matter.

So the conclusion was less family formation.

I have no opinion if that is bad or good, just that over the next 20 years, it should reduce demand for large houses, 4 Bedroom.

With less supply, women may change their mind as well, we are battling 100s of years of men being in financial dominance.
