Overall a lot has been made about the relative ease of our SEC schedule with Ole Miss and Arky our two opponents from the West. But the “schedule of this schedule”, if you will, really sets up well.
Okay the trip to Wyoming didn’t go well. Since then we have had the benefit of a long home stand to get it together. We go on our first SEC road trip against the worst team in the SEC. So we don’t get too cocky, Vandy might beat Wyoming. But there could not be a better start to our road trip.
The next week we go to Lexington and face likely another running qb that has less ability passing than Plummer. Kentucky did come back and beat Arkansas but that really doesn’t say much. This year with their losses and injuries I’d say they are the 3rd or 4th worst team in the SEC. A step up from Vandy but still a very winnable game.
The two road games should give Wilkins and Brooks more valuable experience and hopefully the DEs will show more.
Then we have an open date. A time to heal and scheme for Ga. While we are thinking about them, they are not giving the Tigers a single thought. They will be playing Florida on our open date. Georgia will come into that game with two losses in conference or one and still having to play us and auburn.
You could not have set this up any better to lead up to a big road test.
If Ga wins at Florida I think both of those teams could well be looking at at least two SEC losses. I honestly think we have a good chance to split. If so and we don’t stub our toe(tiger fans know that’s a huge IF) we are SEC E champs. The schedule certainly couldn’t be drawn up better as to the timing of games..okay I wish Florida had LSU instead of open date before playing us..but cmon.
