I hope we win

But thus far we 100 percent deserve to lose. Coming into the game we needed the offense to start fast and cut down the penalties. 0-2. We needed to fix the coverage issues. 0-3.

This team looks very poorly coached. Brotherhood aside, the penalties have become a problem.

You only get to step on your dick so many times before it bites you.

This is game 4. Coming off a game 3 where penalties nearly cost us a ballgame.

To say it's unacceptable isn't doing it justice.

Cook needs to play better. I get we are efficient on offense.....blah blah blah. We are an SEC team we shouldn't have to run 25 dinks and dunks to score a TD against FCS squads.

Vandy lost to Georgia State last week.

It was cute and funny to hand out free passes and say that the team was just taking time rounding into form etc. What I'm starting to see a team that cannot get out of its own way. A team that maybe just maybe isn't the team we thought it was.

In any event, I hope we come out and play A grade ball for the first time this season and take control of this game. Style points don't matter. We have to find a way to win. Rankings don't matter. Style points are now irrelevant for this team. We should be dropped in the rankings with a Win. We are very much an incomplete product but you lose this game the dream ends.

We are who we are

I don’t think Mizzou will magically start to play like they did last year! They had a supremely talented defense, amazing rb and a few timely throws by Cook. I believe they won in spite of Drink. This is year 5.. Drinks teams are not known for being the most locked players…. Drink is not a disciplinary.

FOOTBALL QUICK 3RD QUARTER THOUGHTS VS. VANDERBILT

1. Brady Cook still seems off to me.

This offense is out of sync. Brady Cook is hesitant and he's off-target. I can't pinpoint what's wrong with him. Even on his scrambles, it looks like something is off. I haven't seen Cook like this in a minute.

2. Blake Craig is making up for the missed chip shot.

Mizzou gets on the board thanks to a Blake Craig 55-yard field goal. So, maybe he's just like Harrison Mevis -- the further the better.

3. The defense has played well.

The defense has forced a three-and-out on three of the last four possessions and the one it didn't have was a field goal at the end of the half and that's Drinkwitz's fault. The deep ball on that early touchdown is its only bad play.

4. Nate Noel is a game-breaker.

He just had a 65-yard carry and now has 15 carries for 168 yards and a touchdown. The rest of the game should be running through him. Forget trying to force everyone else's involvement. Cook doesn't have it today and that's okay. But let him carry the team today. He's the hot hand.

Marcus Carroll gives Noel a spell and scores from three yards out. PAT is good.

5. Joe Moore and Sidney Williams almost had an interception

Moore had a really good hit on Pavia and Sidney Williams had an interception in his lap but I think a Vandy WR knocked it out of his hands. Moore has had a good season for a guy who doesn't play that often. He's really stepped up in Darris Smith's absence.

6. Vandy scored and all eyes are on Drinkwitz.

Gabe and I can't help but think this shouldn't be tied going into the fourth quarter. That terrible two-minute at the end of the half is still in our minds. If they lose that is one of the bigger storylines. You can't be giving teams points by being reckless.

7. Speedy Johnson grabbing that ankle.

Kickoff right before the start of the fourth quarter and Speedy Johnson is grabbing his left ankle. He put little weight on it as he headed to the medical tent.

FOOTBALL QUICK 2ND QUARTER THOUGHTS VS. VANDERBILT

1. Good red zone stand.

Chris McClellan got a TFL on second down and then Zion Young did it on third down. McClellan has had some plays this year where he's really flashed. On his TFL he moved whatever IOL in front of him back a couple of yards and got in on the tackle. Young always has a play a game where he flashes. He had really good contain on Pavia on that third and three play. Vandy settles for a field goal.

Vandy 10, MIZ 7

2. Vandy kicks a dribbler and Mizzou doesn't handle it well.

Marvin Burks poorly fielded that kickoff. He lets the ball go behind him to lose like 10 yards and then when he picks it up he doesn't go forward he's going west to east and almost takes a safety. Gives me a flashback to Marquis Johnson fielding a punt at like the one or two-yard line last year. Missouri has to do better.

3. Nate Noel is a baller.

He needs to be No. 2 in the offensive pecking order. Behind Burden, Noel needs to have the ball more. I like Carroll but Noel needs to have 20 carries a game at the least. I mean he's so explosive. He gets the chains moving. On second and 20 he picked up 17 yards off outside zone. Like, this is pretty easy.

4. 91-yard drive all for nothing.

Missouri went 13 plays for 91 yards and Blake Craig missed a chip shot from 24 yards out. He's 8-of-11 on the year with a long of 56 and a short miss of 24.

VANDY 10, MIZ 7

5. Defense makes up for it. The offense has to score.

The defense handled business and Chuck Hicks got a sack to force a punt. Burden had a 16-yard return wiped out by a block in the back penalty. (Tigers have to stop shooting themselves in the foot). If Mizzou scores before halftime (4:23 left in the quarter as I write this) then Mizzou will be okay because it gets the ball after halftime.

Mizzou runs a play and Vamdy gets the TFl and wastes 30 seconds before calling a timeout. Like what are both teams doing here?

6. Clock management strategy at the end of the second quarter?

Missouri had the ball at the Vandy 7 and decided to run a play on first down right before the two-minute timeout happened. If Vandy scores then its because Mizzou just saved them a timeout. Vandy currently has three timeouts. Don't like running that play before the two-minute warning.

7. The passing is breaking?

So two field goals inside the 10-yard line. Craig knocks it in from 23 yards out, but this passing attack seems off. Cook is 10-of-15 for 98 yards and a touchdown, but it doesn't feel that way. He's been hesitant and some of his passes haven't looked that great. It's not time to ring the alarm and put in Drew Pyne or anything but something with this offense and Cook doesn't seem to be in sync. At least, not how we know the offense can be.

However, the deep shot to Burden with about 40 seconds left was on Burden. Cook put it on the money and Burden has to come down with it.

8. Why?

Fourth and 3 at your own 42-yard line and you go for it with 15 seconds left. You don't call a timeout even though you have two timeouts and now Vandy has a chance to score with eight seconds. Terrible clock management in the last two minutes. If you're going to go for it wait until there's no time left and then throw the hail mary.

I can't explain what Drinkwitz was thinking. That three points they gave up from 57 yards away is ALL on Drinkwitz.

This is an unserious football team right now

Probably 1 of a million posts on this:

The team has consistently started unprepared and slowly.

Johnny Walker jr. taking a pump fake on the first drive was an indicator the team wasn't ready to play Pavia.

Inexcusable to be so terrible on your scripted opening drive. Just look lost. The rhythm offensively is non-existent. I feel like Kirby doesn't want to just run and dominate lesser teams so his playcalling is offbeat and awkward. He's trying to get Brady going. Brady absolutely has some pocket anxiety and a slight mental block throwing the football.

Running a gimmick QB run on 3rd & 1 in the red zone against vanderbilt and then not going for it on 4th down is BS. Missing the field goal is crap, but unrelated to that issue. Tossing the 3 points at the end of the half could be costly.

I feel like Eli had a bunch of talent coming back this year, so he coached them a little lighter going into the season, gave them more grace and the result is an undisciplined, unready team. QB is a hard worker but doesn't have that extra level to cover up for other's mistakes. Bryant is an issue at LT.

Undisciplined, unready and the QB is too limited to overcome it.
