Only elite teams win consistently on the road. This is not an elite team, doesn't mean it can't still make the tournament.

Back half of the schedule is much more favorable

Split next week and then just literally go 500 the rest of the way and they’re in, I think.

They’re better than we thought preseason, they’re not as good as we thought when they were up 17 at Arkansas.

It’s a team thrown together, of mostly mid majors, that is very flawed and has to play A or B games to get wins at this level.

They haven’t been playing that game. But they will l, and will pull off a couple more big wins.

The league is going to be a lot of teams around 9-9. 11-7 would be a major accomplishment in this season.

The early success kind of made us expedite the growth, but the reality is this season was really just a “show a pulse and a little progress” to get the ball rolling on a little momentum.

Sounds like it could happen despite some obstacles...

Listening to the College Football Enquirer this afternoon got me to thinking about B10 expansion.

Kevin Warren is thought to be the key and the architect of the expansion including UCLA and USC. While the other schools voted for it, there may have been some apprehension how it would work out, and some strong arm tactics from the commissioners office to get it done. Now that Warren is off to the Bears, and with USC and UCLA not playing in the B10 yet, and the B10 leaning towards not offering any more west coast teams (at least for the foreseeable future)... and given that they are still trying to figure out how to make this work... I wonder if there is any room for the PAC commissioner to come in and open the door for USC and UCLA to return to the PAC, maybe in a senior role, and then increase the TV value of the PAC... that would put the PAC in great position to expand into theB12 if they wanted to... and while not revenue neutral by any means... I don't know that many in the hierarchy of the B10 would cry over returning to the way it was (is).

Yes, it would be unprecedented.. but we live in strange times and ignoring the unusual in favor of the norm may not be the best idea.

-Gates said Aidan Shaw was available today -- "coach's decision" that he didn't play.

-Gates thought they did a good job of limiting Colin Castleton's touches in the first half and then he started picking them apart with passes in the second.

-Gates thought his team did a good job of not allowing the offensive slump to affect their defense in the first half. But a lot of guys went 0-for and they lost confidence. They also had a negative assist-to-turnover ratio, which he hates. He does think they did a good job of executing but knows it's tough when shots aren't going in, especially on the road.

-Gates was asked if Castleton's presence caused the team to miss some shots inside that they normally make: "I have no comment on that."

-Tre Gomillion was pretty visibly upset with the loss. He was upset with himself after they lost to Texas A&M and winning was the only thing on his mind coming into today. He said it'll be the only thing on his mind against Arkansas, too.
