Crazy stat

Six of the top 15 teams in the CFP rankings are coached by first year coaches

TCU: Sonny Dykes from 5-7 to 11-0
LSU: Brian Kelly from 6-7 to 9-2
Washington: Kalen DeBoer from 4-8 to 9-2
Notre Dame: Marcus Freeman from 11-2 to 8-3
Oregon: Dan Lanning from 10-4 to 9-2
USC: Lincoln Riley from 4-8 to 10-1

Josh Heupel is in his second year, Chris Kleiman in his fourth, which means more than half of the top 15 has a coach who has been there four years or less

BASKETBALL HALFTIME THOUGHTS: MIZZOU 45, COASTAL CAROLINA 32

*This was Missouri worst shooting night so far (at least for quite a bit of the first half) but it didn't matter because Coastal Carolina was worse. The Chanticleers had just 11 points in the first 13 minutes and were just 4/21 from the floor to start. I'm sure the defense was better, but it also just shows you the law of averages. Sometimes a team is going to come in and shoot lights out. Sometimes it's going to be ice cold.

*This was Isiaih Mosley's best night so far. After 18 second half points in the MVSU game, he had 14 in the first 20 minutes tonight (and he only played ten of them). He didn't start, but he barely leave the floor once he came in. In his last 40 minutes of game action (23 played), he's now got 32 points. He's also still the best passer on the team.

*Missouri had 14 assists and only 3 turnovers. That'll play. There were some highlight reel passes from D'Moi Hodge and DeAndre Gholston.

*I appreciate the freedom Kobe Brown has, but I'd still like to see him play in the paint more and shoot fewer jump shots. That's just not his game.

*Mizzou did break down (let up) a little in the last four minutes. A couple of turnovers led to a couple CC buckets that made the score closer than it was much of the first half. A 14-5 run cut the lead to 11, but Mizzou scored the next five to stretch it back out before Coastal put together a mini run in the last 90 seconds.

*There were a couple threes that when they went up I said "terrible shot" but then they went in. So I guess they weren't terrible shots. Everybody on the floor seems to pretty much have the green light at all times. Missouri shot 20 threes, which is on pace to break the school record of 38 attempts in a game. That record may not fall tonight, but it seems like it's going to at some point.

*This team is really good in transition. If they can get out and run, they're going to be able to play with some teams you wouldn't think they'd be able to play with.

*Ronnie DeGray got some run. Mohammed Diarra did not. Neither did Kaleb Brown and we didn't see much of Aidan Shaw (five minutes).

BASKETBALL QUICK THOUGHTS ON MIZZOU'S 105-80 WIN OVER SIUE

-The team's defensive rotations seemed much-improved. It still got a little hectic at times, which can be the case when you switch as much as Mizzou does. But SIUE didn't get off nearly as many uncontested looks against the Tigers as previous teams have.

-Gabe said this before in regards to Isiaih Mosley, but I think the same will apply to pretty much every player on the roster: This team is going to score. This is the third time in four games they've scored 90 points -- the one game they didn't get there, they still had 80. So to stay on the floor, each player has to contribute more than just scoring.

-Mizzou had another really good assist-to-turnover ratio, but what's more interesting is that five different players had at least two dimes. This team is more than willing to share the ball with each other, which is a good trait to have.

-Mabor Majak, Mo Diarra and Ronnie DeGray all got to play some late in the second half. DeGray had a nice putback on a missed 3 from Diarra, but there wasn't a whole lot that stood out about their time on the floor.

-105 points is the most for the team since they had 104 on Dec. 15, 2011 -- meaning it's the most they've ever scored as an SEC team. That's a lot of buckets.

FOOTBALL COMPLETE HISTORY of Missouri High School State Championships...

Trivia:

1) Mizzou RB Tony Galbreath's Fulton Hornets actually HOSTED their State Championsjip game and lost in a controversial 29-25 game vs. the Richmond Spartans who were quarterbacked by future Mizzou defensive end Blaine Henningson.

2) Mizzou players Tracy Mack (of Webster Groves) and George Shorthose (of Jeff City) squared off in the very first SHOM ME BOWL in 1979 which was the first time MSHSAA staged this event to get all the State Championship games highlighted at different start times in the same facility. Webster won 7-6...only two days after having played their annual TURKEY DAY GAME vs Kirkwood.

There is a LOT OF HISTORY here i all these Champioship games! I welcome some of your favorite memories of these Title games in this thread.

Worst Assistant coaches ever in Mizzou football rankings from 10 to 1.

10. David Yost-guy had those stupid side bar passes that never went anywhere. He got some good players but his play calling was bad.

9. Steve Wilks- guy was fish out of water and his issues probably stemmed from being use to the NFL vs Barry Odom’s recruits who were terrible.

8. Bill Cubit- Guy sucked everywhere and the 2000 team was a run based team but was forced to pass with a quarterback in Darius Outlaw who couldn’t throw at all.

7. Ryan Walters- looked okay but those defensive schemes were easy to beat once the other team had the athletic advantage like UGA and Alabama. His 2019 defense against Kentucky lives in my worst nightmares.

6. Jackie Shipp- Guy was a total asshole and was a huge blunder for Odom to even consider him. Guy was not smart and players made fun of him because he was stupid.

5. Brick Haley- He was pretty awful the D-line was terrible and gave no pressure to the quarterback and games like Purdue in 2017-18 happened because of his d-line.

4. Josh Heupel- Did well from a play calling standpoint but his recruiting was hot garbage. Getting Taylor Powell and some scrubs who never saw playing time made him a terrible recuiter at Mizzou.

3. Demonte Cross- From coaching to recruiting this guy had no idea what he was doing. He might of been a total headcase because the defense he had before he got there in 2013-2015 had tons of NFL talent.

2. Barry Odom- He did okay but the defense was gliding to success in 2015 and the protest set off recruiting in a negative way with bad recruits who were not academically qualified to go to college such as Daron Davis.

1. Derek Dooley- A total brain dead loser who was a bum at Tennessee. He was a bad recruiter and reggressed Drew Lock into a quarterback who had 1st round potential. The guy also sued Mizzou for not paying him (even though he never cared at all) a total dick and a guy I am glad who is gone. His recruiting was somehow the worst out of all the Odom assistant coaches.
