FOOTBALL WHAT DRINKWITZ SAID ON TIGER TALK EPISODE 4

Thinks practice went well. There's a competitive spirit amongst this team that you can only get better in practice. He thinks the players responded.

Tre'Vez did a 60/40 lean so he baited the quarterback on his interception. Apparently, a staple of safeties coach Jacob Yoro.

A lot of confidence is swelling in Blake Craig. Drink joked that he'd like the "Thinner Kicker" as a nickname for Craig.

Luke Bauer lost his dad over the summer.

Team has mental help professionals and player-only bible study on Fridays. Attiyah Ellison and Evan Boehm are also a big help when players are dealing with heavy off-the-field things.

"Defense is about 11 people together performing. If you have one person to break down then you can get a deep play." Boston College got Mizzou on a motion that led to a TD.

Thinks Noel and Carroll played well. Thinks OL and WRs need to do better at sustaining blocks, specifically backside blocks and perimeter blocks.

Thinks LB3 did well on the game-sealing third-down reception. He had plenty of big plays.

He's one of the best players in CFB and now that's on tape so people are going to try and get the best of him. But he can take coaching because Drink essentially cursed him out on national TV and he said, 'Yes sir.'

Said the game vs Vandy will be a dogfight. Pointed out how UK lost to SCAR and then almost beat UGA last week. So, can't take

Called Vandy QB Diego Pavia a fullback playing quarterback. Called him sneaky fast. Linebackers are going to need another big day.

Marquis Gracial was ranked high because of his size. He played TE, OL and DT in high school. Mizzou knew it would have to put in a lot of work to help him get to where he is now. But Gracial has also put in a lot of work to get to where he is now being in the rotation.

DT room has gone from a question mark to a strength of the defense.

FOOTBALL The Florida board is interesting

They are all in on making a new hire... of course that means $26mil in retirement payments to Billy Napier.
One of the mods is suggesting they need to gut the Athletic Department and start over. He might not be wrong. It sounds like they are WAY behind in upgrades and NIL living in the shadows of their former AD Foley.
One of the posters had an interesting Top 10 which did not, btw, include one Eliah Drinkwitz. #3 on the list caught my eye.
Would Lincoln Riley take the Florida job? First thought was no, but IF they gutted the Athletic Department and got their NIL together, it would be enticing, because he currently has a lot of the same problems at USC as they currently have at Florida.
Florida President probably calling DRF as we speak.

GAME THREAD Parking lot issue

Anyone have parking lot issues yesterday. Have a parking pass for Lot H (Been in that lot for over 50 years), arrived 20 minutes before kickoff, and was told by a young lady parking lot attendant that there were no spaces. There were several cars behind me so I would think they were going to have an issue too. Parking attendant said if I could find a spot in a grass area in the lot to just go ahead and try to park there. Did do that. My question is are lot attendants not enforcing the need to have a parking pass or is the greedy Athletic Department overselling parking passes? Either way, not happy about this!

FOOTBALL BenFred: Florida should have Mizzou’s Eli Drinkwitz on wish list. Doesn’t mean Gators get him.

Good Column. Points out a lot of things this board has said too. Found this part interesting:

"Also worth mentioning: The last guy to leave the Mizzou football program despite determined attempts to keep him was former defensive coordinator Blake Baker, who convinced himself he would do bigger, better things at LSU. Update: LSU through three games is giving up the 14th-most total yards per game in the SEC, and that includes letting winless Southland opponent Nicholls score 21. If LSU hadn’t come back to beat South Carolina this weekend, LSU fans would be dreaming up Brian Kelly replacements."

Nickname for Craig?

Mevis was the Thiccer Kicker. We have to keep up the tradition and find a nickname for Craig, who looks like he’s gonna be a weapon.

Here are a few that play on his hometown and his name that I think are pretty decent. What else ya got?

“The KC Cannon”

“Thunderleg Craig”

“Bigfoot Blake”

Blake “Boom Boom” Craig

“Big Boom Blake”

NEW STORY WHAT ELI DRINKWITZ SAID ON MEDIA DAY ENTERING WEEK 4

Sends condolences to Texas Tiger. He past away unexpectedly last weekend. Thanks Jack Foster for saving Peter Burns' life.

Was really impressed with Boston College. Called them fundamentally sound in all three phases of the game.

There are a lot of things to correct offensively. FG, punt, FG in the first quarter.

Happy with the swing 8 but didn't like how they couldn't put away BC in the third quarter.

10 people do things right on five plays and that can get you beat defensively.

Played well as a defense for most of the game but gave up 3 TDs and one drive away from losing.

Special teams started slow with a KR that got stopped inside of the 20. Had a shanked punt.

Proud of Blake Craig, the SEC ST POTW.

Called Vandy a difficult out for Mizzou for every year except in 2020.

He think this is Vandy's best team in the Clark Lea era.

Called S CJ Taylor one of the best defenders in the league. He will be out for the first half due to a targeting penalty, though.

Diego Pavia gives them a chance every play to make a big play.

Doesn't think Brady COok started slow he just thinks the red zone play early on wasn't as good as it needs to be.

Calls the two minute timeout significant. You can manipulate teams to run certain schemes.

Diego is a different style runner than Castellanos. He's more physical and will lower shoulder. Thinks the pass rush approach wont be the same as last week versus Boston College.

Blake Craig has put in a lot of work. he's always been really confident. Coaches and players have demonstrated confidence in him too. They never worried about him after week 2. Called him one of the most consistent performances in the weight room.

Said similarties between him and Mevis is competivie spirit. They relish the opportunity to compete and bring value to the team.

Jamal Roberts has the best understanding of protection combined with his size on third down situations. He can catch and it helps take some off the plate for Carroll and Noel.

Cook getting rid of the ball faster. Some of that is by design. Some of it is him.

Playing an extra DT last week was based on 12 personnel. So, Mizzou could control A and B gaps to limit center from going to the second level and create more one on ones for the guard and center. Thought Marquis Gracial did well playing NT.

Chuck Hicks emotionally consistent. Never too high or too low. He had 4 tackles, a TFL and a PD last week. He reinvented himself after he transferred from Wyoming.

Feels offensive line got tired in the second half and it will be hot this week vs. Vandy. So OL needs to be conditioned.

Had issues on third down protections by the OL. It took them until the second half to get it cleaned up. The sack is on the QB, RB and OL.

Biggest thing they can build off from last week is they can build on the adversity. Thinks team didn't play best ball in fourth quarter but executed when they needed to.

Lack of discipline is because of lack of accountability. He told the team to put their feelings in a box. He said LB3 deserved every bit of getting chewed out after the penalites and Burden looked him in the eyes and said, "Yes sir."

Nate Noel has worked on durability, practicing and conditioning habits. That's part of why he's doing well.
