One of my friends is on another coaching staff in the Cleveland State’s conf. I reached out to him to see what he thought about Gates -
I hate him. He does an unbelievable job. Good pedigree coming from FSU. They won our league back to back. He rebuilt the roster in one year with JUCOs. Whole team is Juco transfers basically. They play multiple defenses, will press and switch. He also had very versatile pieces. Offense was alot of cutting. Seemed to have great buy in of his guys. They were deep off the bench.
Tried to get Big East job last year and after interview tried to squeeze the AD into hiring him by saying he was interviewing at bigger schools that he never interviewed at.
Does stupid shit in game like put a sub at table so they blow horn but then pulls them back to bench and doesnt put them in, just doing it to get his press setup.

I love the hire. Great coach and ridiculous recruiter. Was at Florida state for a long time I believe. He basically took an awful crumbling program and made it a winner overnight lol both years.
