i definitely have a problem with cities, states giving tax incentives to specific companies (it’s like govt picking winners).
I get why local people were pissed. The Chicago proposal was deplorable, taking taxes from amazon employees and giving that revenue back to amazon corporate.
Additionally, these incentives give competitive advantage to new companies moving in versus local companies developed locally or ones that moved there long ago before incentives.
I think at the federal level, these type of relocation incentives should be banned.
I would caution that banning this would kill liberal states. Without these incentives, they would get creamed because of more tax friendly states.
