The headline on the article is a bit sensational since it isn't close to a monster when compared to super-massive black holes. It is the largest stellar black hole on record. I'm not sure if this is a big deal or not. Black holes have been known to merge, so who is to say this is just from one star?

Also in the news, a single galaxy found to have 3 super-massive black holes. Now this is pretty cool. In the past they have seen binary pairs of SMBH's orbiting each other in the center of a galaxy. This appears that it may be from merging galaxies.

I also like this picture. The bright purple blob on the right is a black hole that ate too much too fast and burped up a bunch of gas. That gas was shot 1 million light years into space (red blob on left). Now it is condensing into stars. Someone should call the resulting stars the Thanksgiving Galaxy.
