"Everyone wants to be a gangsta until it's time to do gangsta shit. That guy crying like a fukcing bitch!"
Body cams have been a fantastic enhancement to policing transparency, but they leave a lot to be desired due to camera positioning logistics. This latest technology is brilliant as fills in the gaps where body cams fail to offer adequate coverage of police shooting events. The video below is a fantastic example of how the body-worn camera didn't display the entire story, but the new camera system did.
Most all LEOs and competent self-defenders have a weapon-mounted light (WML) on their firearm (My primary carry gun is wearing a Streamlight TLR-7 Flex). You need to see before you can shoot and a bright, white light blinds & disorients an armed assailant. That said, a company named Viridian, known for visible green laser sights, has added a 1080p HD video camera and audio recorder to a 500 lumen WML. This tech has been around for a bit, but more recently has been perfected with video stabilization improvements, recoil mitigation, and an instant-on feature that actually make it usable. If the new Gen 3 models hold up, these will be everywhere before you know it, and the price will come way down after Streamlight and Surefire start making (better) replicas. Strong progress here.
