FOOTBALL RECRUITING

Let's get the bad news out of the way first: We THINK this is the first day this week on which Missouri won't get a football commitment...but we're not positive about that.

McClellan is the only transfer we're waiting on right now. He was supposed to arrive back home in Tulsa on Thursday. He and his family are going to talk things over and there should be a decision in the coming days. Oklahoma and Colorado are the other schools we believe to be in competition (but the portal is always fluid and it's not impossible there are others we don't know about). The information we currently have is that Missouri is considered the favorite. That's coming from sources on both the Mizzou and Oklahoma side. But, as one source told us, "you know how the portal goes."

The latest we've heard is that an announcement is likely early next week. But we're on the lookout for it at any time.

If you've been sleeping for a week, here are Missouri's current incoming transfers:

Cayden Green
Toriano Pride Jr.
Marcus Carroll
Corey Flagg Jr.
Darris Smith

That gives the Tigers the No. 13 transfer class as of this morning. Combine that with the No. 23 high school class and the overall rank for Missouri is No. 18 as of right now.

So what you're all here for is what's left?

In the transfer portal, we expect Missouri to have somewhere around a half dozen visitors in the window from January 3-7. We do not yet have names. They may not even be finalized. They may not even all be in the portal. But that's the ballpark as far as a number.

We've forecast 10-12 transfers all along and that number still stands. If the Tigers can add McLellan they'll have a DT, a DE, a LB, a CB, a RB and an OL. They will still be looking for this:

An interior offensive lineman
Another defensive tackle
Another edge rusher
Another running back

The other spots could be just about anything depending on who stays, who goes, etc.

As far as leftover high school prospects from signing day, there are really only two we're watching at this point:

Trajan Greco: He signed somewhere on Wednesday. He will reveal it at the all-American game on January 6. We don't try to spoil announcements, but you all know we feel strongly that Missouri is in good shape here.

J'Marion Burnette: He did not sign anywhere on Wednesday. That is what we had told you to expect going into signing day. Missouri is looking at the potential of another transfer running back. The guess is they'd like to have that done before signing Burnette. Adding another relatively well-regarded high school kid could scare off some transfers (not saying it would, just possible). Arkansas is also making some inroads with Burnette and is a school to watch. Missouri has taken a calculated risk here that it can wait and still add Burnette in February if it wants to. We'll see how it works out.

BASKETBALL RECRUITING

Since Aaron Rowe's commitment, we've had a lot of people ask us who else you should be paying attention to in the 2025 class. There's obviously a long way to go, but here are some names we think will be priorities in the next 11 months:

Trey McKenney
Jasper Johnson
Chuck Love
Terrion Burgess
Efeosa Oliogu
BJ Davis Ray
Jerry Easter

This is by no means a comprehensive list. It's just a short list of players whose names we've heard the most often over the last few months to satiate those of you who can't get enough.

We expect the next week to be relatively quiet until a new wave of players starts hitting the portal after bowl games. But if anything happens, we'll be on top of it and keep you updated.
